Seth's first day of school + extra from the world of Seth

Seth had his first half-day of school today! The morning was not auspicious (peeled sobbing off of Daddy’s leg by a teacher) but by the time Jon arrived back to do the pick-up, he was happily wolfing down a hot dog – remarkable because to date, he’s been a vegetarian. Leave it to a Jewish school in Madrid to make him like hot dogs. The teachers reported he had a good day and called him a “bon bon” – a sign that he’s charmed the socks off them. Here’s a transcript of the interview.

M: Seth, what did you do today at school?

S: Played with toys. And there was a radio in my school, it played music. We played radio clapping music and sunscreen.

M: you put sunscreen on?

S: Yes.

M: What else? What did you have for lunch?

S: I had a hot dog. And I liked it. And French fries. And fruit. That’s what they had and that’s it.

M: Did you get to play outside?

S: Toys, and there was sand outside. Not up in the sky, on the ground. And there were toys and swings and merry go round, and see-saw and two holders were broken and one is fixed, and the one is fixed is rolling.

M: Did you make any friends at school?

S: Hannah and Livia.

M: What did you play with Hannah and Livia?

S: Cooking and playing and Hannah and Livia they turned on the lights.

M: Did you cry at school? (Yes). When?

S: 7 O’clock. I cried.

M: Why?

S: Because I did.

M: Is there anything else you want to tell Mommie about school?

S: No.

(Later, overheard while going potty)

S: (mutter, mutter, mutter, mutter)

M: Seth, what do you need?

S: I not talking to you.

M: Who are you talking with?

S: My penis.

(Could not discern what this conversation was about – sorry!)

  1. HI SETH,
Now that you are going to school like Nathan and Nora, I will write a blog to you also. School sounds like fun, and you are eating lunch there just like all the bigger kids. Am sure that you will find more fun things to do every day, and you will make many new friends.Grandoc and I are proud of you for being such a big boy. LOTS OF LOVE, BEBE
